Important Note
When applying Farmer’s Gold ColdShield to all crops you must always obtain a complete, wet and uniform coverage to ensure maximum protection from freeze and frost damage. Always use the recommended amount of ColdShield per gallon/per acre for the type of crop to be applied to. Farmer’s Gold ColdShield may be applied right up to harvest.
A non-ionic spreader is recommended to obtain uniform coverage. Farmer’s Gold ColdShield must be completely dry before temperatures begin to fall. Allow 4 to 6 hours for application to completely dry. Farmer’s Gold ColdShield will withstand up to 6 inches of rainfall.

How it works
Farmer’s Gold ColdShield
An organic compound formulated through scientific research used as an aid to protect all agricultural and valuable crops from freeze and frost damage.
ColdShield Performance
Studies have concluded that certain strains of bacteria present on the surface of plant tissue, known as nucleation sites, are the initial cause of ice crystallization. Another means of ice formation comes from a natural occurrence known as transpiration. The transpiration process releases water vapor and heat energy through the stomatal complex causing lower temperatures in plants.
When temperatures begin to fall, Farmer’s Gold ColdShield forms a protective, permeable, micro-thin protein bio-polymer coating, When applied properly, Farmer’s Gold ColdShield’s micro-thin coating prevents the nucleation sites from initiating ice crystallization and strengthens the cuticle layer over the epidermal surface tp prevent contamination of bacteria or harmful micro-organisms from entering the plant tissue.
Farmer’s Gold Frost Shield also reduces stomatal transpiration. By reducing the rate of transpiration, ColdShield reduces the loss of heat energy carried away through the release of water vapor enabling plants to maintain warmer internal temperatures.
When temperatures begin to rise, Farmer’s Gold ColdShield’s protective coating begins to expand to a micro-screen coating allowing plants to breath and mature naturally.
Farmer’s Gold ColdShield will not restrict plant growth when temperatures are above freezing.
Methods and Application Rates
Farmer’s Gold ColdShield can be applied through any conventional ground sprayer or aerial applicator.
Application Rates
Deciduous Fruit Trees
Apples, apricots, cherries, pomegranates, pears, prunes, plums, peaches, nectarines and other stone fruits.
Apply 3 quarts of Farmer’s Gold ColdShield per acre for newly planted and young trees. Apply 4 quarts Farmer’s Gold ColdShield per acre for larger or more mature trees.
Mix with an ample amount of surfactant water to achieve a complete wet and uniform coverage.
Apply solution at bud break, bloom and fruiting stages.
Apply every 2 weeks and up to harvest.
Repeat application to protect new growth as it appears.
Deciduous Nut Trees
Almonds, pecan, pistachios and walnuts
Apply 4 – 5 quarts of Farmer’s Gold ColdShield per acre depending on size of trees.
Mix with an ample amount of surfactant water to achieve a complete wet and uniform coverage.
Apply solution at bud break, bloom and fruiting stages.
Apply every 2 weeks and up to harvest.
Repeat application to protect new growth as it appears.
Avocados and all Citrus
Apply 4 – 5 quarts of Farmer’s Gold ColdShield per acre depending on size of trees.
Mix with an ample amount of surfactant water to achieve a complete wet and uniform coverage.
Apply solution at bud break, bloom and fruiting stages.
Apply every 2 weeks and up to harvest.
Grapes
Apply 3 – 4 quarts of Farmer’s Gold ColdShield per acre per application.
Mix with an ample amount of surfactant water to achieve a complete wet and uniform coverage.

Apply every 2 weeks and up to harvest.

Vegetables
Artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, all bean varieties, brussel sprouts, cabbage, carrots, celery, cauliflower, corn, eggplant, all herb varieties, all onion varieties, peas, peppers, peanuts, all potato varieties, radish and all other root varieties, spinach, all squash varieties, sugar beets, sugar cane and tomatoes.

Cantaloupe, casaba, crenshaw, honey dew, watermelon, and all other melon varieties.

Blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, raspberries, strawberries and all other berry crops.
